Up for sale is a Contax I - 35mm rangefinder camera, paired with a Carl Zeiss Jena 5cm f/3.5 Tessar lens, manufactured in 1932 by Zeiss Ikon, Germany. This is an early production model of the iconic Contax I, a direct competitor to the Leica II, and a true collector's piece that showcases the pinnacle of pre-war German engineering.

Shutter: Vertical-travel metal shutter with speeds from 1/1000s to 1s ( Shutter Is stuck). Please refer to Photos.
Rangefinder: Coupled, split-image rangefinder works but doesn’t overlap properly. Got Haze.
Build: Die-cast metal body with black enamel finish
Lens Details: Focal Length: 5cm (50mm) f/3.5 - got haze inside lens.

Condition: Body: cosmetically ok with signs of use; leatherette intact; no major dents or scratches. Back of camera got few bumps.
Lens: Clean glass with minimal dust, no fungus, haze inside, smooth focus and aperture rings
- Functionality: Shutter appears to be stuck near the vertical bottom of its travel and will require servicing. Rangefinder appears to be working not aligned, not film tested. Sold as-is for parts, repair, or display.
Notes: A true piece of photographic history – the Contax I introduced several innovations such as a long base rangefinder and removable back.
