This is a Beautiful example of a Very early "The Eastman Dry plate & Film Co." - Believed to be the "Interchangeable View Camera" in the Extremely Rare 5x8 size. This early view cameras believed to be manufactured between 1884-early 1890.
The wood large format camera has a classic design with a nice construction, brass hardware, a black leather bellow in a very good condition there are few marks. The removable 5" extension rail (matching 1521 serial number) too. It folds up nice and compact for travel and storage and offers a front geared focus, front rise, rear tilt and rear swing movements. The wooden frame and brass parts are in good condition.
The camera and bed extension comes exactly as shown and looks to be in good condition especially for its age showing light signs of cosmetic wear from use/age and appears to work well . All movements look to work properly; the geared focusing is easy to control, The knobs all work and lock down properly. The bellow has some pinholes and the ground glass showing some oxidation light marks and a light chip on the top left - please check photos. The lens board is in good condition showing a few scratch marks.
The water house stop type brass lens shows separation front and back glass. No fungus. The lens properly fits the retaining ring on the lens board.
It’s hard to find one of these cameras in this condition and working.
